    Volkswagen and Hermes trial car boot parcel delivery service

    VOLKSWAGEN has teamed up with Hermes to offer couriers access to its vehicle boots, so that customers can have their packages delivered there. The car marque will run a pilot of the service across Milton Keynes. Customers will have the option to select an in-car delivery via the We Deliver app, after identifying themselves using a unique VW ID log in. The courier is then given single-use, time-specific access to open the car and GPS co-ordinates to locate the vehicle, before taking photo evidence of the delivery and confirming the boot is securely locked. The scheme is already live in Germany and should roll out to the UK, after trial, by late 2020.

    Renault names Luca de Meo as new chief executive

    RENAULT has appointed Luca de Meo to the position of chief executive officer. He stepped down from his role at SEAT earlier this month and officially joins the business in July. Interim chief executive Clotilde Delbos will become deputy chief executive when de Meo starts.
