    Young men urged to 'pint block' each other in DfT road-safety campaign

    THE DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT is encouraging young men to 'pint block' each other in order to discourage drink-driving. The campaign by VMLY&R is part of DfT's long-running Think! road-safety initiative. 60 'Pint block' illustration were created by young artists from around the country, one for each of the 60 young drivers killed or seriously injured every month from drink driving. The 'pint blocks' feature pranks such as spoiling a pint of beer with hot sauce, old socks or bird poo, to help spread the message that it's important for men to step in and stop a friend from drinking alcohol and driving. The drawings were showcased in a pub in Birmingham on 18 February where pub-goers were also served zero-alcohol drinks by HEINEKEN. MANNING GOTTLIEB handled media planning & buying.

    DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT has seen head of external affairs Emily James leave to join GREATER ANGLIA as head of public affairs. James works alongside head of media Matthew Beard and reports to head of communications Allan Watt.
