Shell agency overhaul: JWT will split creative and MediaCom to retain media

SHELL is to split its marketing and buying functions across four agency networks and eight agencies, having previously been looked after by just one holding group, WPP. The energy firm is to split its creative account across incumbent JWT, WUNDERMAN, GEOMETRY GLOBAL, VCCP, Dentsu and more. Having held Shell's retail ad account for 21 years, JWT will now split this with VCCP and a Dentsu creative agency. In addition, Wunderman and Mirum will work on its ad account, Geometry Global on shopper marketing, EDELMAN on PR, HILL+KNOWLTON on PR and brand strategy, and DOREMUS on B2B creative services. MEDIACOM is set to retain its global media account having fought off competition from CARAT. The appointments are yet to be confirmed by Shell or the agencies.
