    Costa Coffee in hot water with ASA for ad urging punters to choose bacon over avocado

    THE ADVERTISING STANDARDS AUTHORITY has banned an ad from COSTA COFFEE which encouraged listeners to opt for one of its bacon sandwiches instead of avocado for breakfast. Costa Coffee argued that the ad, created by BBH, was intended to play on common frustrations about trying to predict when an avocado will ripen. The ASA concluded that it would be interpreted as a comparison between the two foods and ordered the coffee chain not to 'condone or encourage poor nutritional habits'.

    Coca-Cola reviews media planning and buying

    COCA-COLA is reviewing its media planning and buying in Great Britain and Ireland. MEDIACOM currently holds the business, and is expected to defend the account during the statutory review. The victorious agency will win business for Coca-Cola owned brands like Fanta and Oasis, but could also take the drinks giant's recent major acquisition COSTA COFFEE. ZENITH is the incumbent on the coffee chain brand. It retained the business earlier this year after a competitive review.
