    Ex-Sky CMO Luke Bradley-Jones joins Disney to oversee Europe streaming plans

    DISNEY has confirmed ex-SKY chief marketing officer Luke Bradley-Jones will join as senior vice-president, direct-to-consumer and general manager in early 2020. He has been appointed to run the Disney+ streaming service in Europe and Africa. Bradley-Jones will report into Jan Koeppen, president, television and direct-to-consumer, Europe and Africa and Michael Paull, president, Disney streaming services.

    Media giants Viacom and CBS to merge in latest mega-deal

    VIACOM is to merge with CBS to created ViacomCBS. The move comes as broadcasters adapt to changing consumer demands and increasing competition from NETFLIX, DISNEY-FOX and other rivals. The deal will create a business with £23bn in revenue, controlled by holding company National Amusements. The businesses were previously under the same corporate umbrella til a 2006 split. Since, there has been at least three attempts to re-combine them, that fell through due to clashes between executives and investors over who would take the top jobs and the valuation of the business. The merger brings together a movie studio, cable channels and some of the most-watched TV shows, expected to save £414m in costs.
