Royal Mint takes to social to persuade public to ditch old £1 coins by deadline

THE ROYAL MINT and HM TREASURY have taken to social media to call on people to hunt down their remaining £1 coins and spend, bank or donate them to charity before the 15 October when they are no longer legal tender. The campaign is using The Royal Mint's TWITTER, FACEBOOK and LINKEDIN platforms targeted at consumers and businesses. These are re-posted via HM Treasury and its associated platforms. Instagram and Snapchat have also been used for elements of the campaign. Children In Need is also assisting with the campaign by using Pudsey Bear to encourage people to donate their old coins to Pudsey’s ‘Round Pound Countdown’.
