    Joe Sutcliffe joins Saga Holidays as head of long haul product

    SAGA HOLIDAYS has appointed Joe Sutcliffe to the role of head of long haul for product and purchasing. Sutcliffe joins from WENDY WU TOURS and replaces Stuart Douglass Lee who is retiring.

    Spend Analysis

    SAGA GROUP was once again the top spender in direct mail investing £8.4m, although this was 10% less than in Q1 2016. £3.8m supported a campaign for its insurance offerings and £2.9m its range of holidays. VIRGIN MEDIA came second by spending £7.1m. However, this investment was a significant 69% less than it had spent at the same time the previous year, the largest year on year decrease of the top 100. Virgin rolled out TV campaigns for its Virgin Fibre Broadband and Virgin Mobile brands in Q1 with direct mail material likely supporting this push. Virgin Media’s total advertising spend plummeted to its lowest in the 2010s in Q4. Yet, by increasing its spend by 125% quarter on quarter, it looks like it is now back in action.
