    COVID-19: London Southend Airport to close for four days a week

    LONDON SOUTHEND AIRPORT has changed its working hours from 30 March, due to a collapse in passenger demand because of the pandemic. The new opening hours are between 16:30 and 21:30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. EASYJET and RYANAIR, who are partners of the company, have suspended all flights until May at the earliest.

    Ryanair moots grounding entire fleet as European travel restrictions bite

    RYANAIR is expecting to ground the 'majority' of its aircraft fleet across Europe over the next seven-to-ten days due to the spread of the coronavirus. Countries including Poland, Slovakia, Spain and Denmark have imposed flight bans to of varying degrees. For April and May, Ryanair is expecting to reduce its seat capacity by up to 80%, and a full grounding of the fleet cannot be ruled out. It is also taking immediate action to reduce operating expenses and improve cash flows which includes grounding surplus aircraft, deferring all capex and share buybacks, freezing recruitment and discretionary spending, implementing voluntary leave options, temporarily suspending employment contracts and making significant reductions to working hours and payments.
