    Angry Birds gaming company Rovio appoints head of comms

    ROVIO has named Jon Howard as head of communications & PR. He was previously head of PR and influencer at Flaregames. Howard will report to the company's chief marketing officer Ville Heijari and he will be based in its Espoo headquarters. His appointment comes as Rovio celebrates ten years of its Angry Birds game and plans to release a sequel to the Angry Birds movie.

    Facebook launches ad products for video games

    FACEBOOK has created three new advertising solutions for games publishers looking to capitalize on users who might make in-app purchases. The first is a playable ad which will appear in users' Facebook newsfeeds and has already yielded promising results for ROVIO, which beta-tested the product. It saw a 40% saving in costs for acquiring a paying player and a 70% in return on spend. The second gives marketers the opportunity to find lookalike audiences who are more likely to play games, while the second allows advertisers and agencies to set a minimum return on ad spend, thus targeting their ads only at users who are likely to become paying players.
