    M&S prepares for online shopping after sealing 50% stake in Ocado

    M&S has formed a joint venture with OCADO making its food range available to online shoppers. The deal was announced in February and will be in effect from September 2020, when Ocado's longstanding relationship with WAITROSE comes to an end. The 50/50 venture will be led by Melanie Smith, who is currently the strategy director of M&S, as chief executive from 1 September this year. M&S has paid an upfront £562.5m, with a further £187.5m conditional on performance over five years, for a 50% stake in Ocado Retail.

    M&S replaces Dubinsky with Harrison

    MARKS & SPENCER has promoted Simon Harrison to the newly-created role of head of international marketing and operations, taking over from Ira Dubinsky who left earlier this year. He will be tasked with marketing, visual merchandising, store design and retail operations.
