    HKEX abandons £32bn bid for LSE after charm offensive fails

    THE LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE will no longer be acquired by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing after it withdrew its £32bn offer. Hong Kong Exchanges attempted to create a global capital markets operator and break up the LSE's rival deal for Refinitiv. The LSE has agreed a deal to buy Refinitiv for $27bn and rejected HKEX's offer to give it up.
