    Yahoo strikes global content partnerships with UK publishers as it steps up ambitions to lead news

    YAHOO! has penned content distribution deals with THE TELEGRAPH, THE EVENING STANDARD, HEARST UK, THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT. The platform is hoping to grow its news output while providing UK brands with a global distribution platform. Articles and video content from the publishers will sit within news, sports, lifestyle and finance verticals.

    The Independent readership surges after switch to online-only

    THE INDEPENDENT has increased its readership by about 50% since its switch to online-only. Total audience figures were 21.1 million per month for the second quarter of 2016. Most of those readers, 18.2 million, accessed content through a tablet or smartphone.
