    AKQA buys majority stake in architecture and product design agencies

    AKQA has revealed it has purchased a majority stake in agencies Universal Design Studio and Map Project Office as part of plans to unite architecture, product and experience design. They have collaborated before on mutual client IBM. Employees of the two purchased agencies will retain a minority stake once the deal is completed. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.

    IBM selected Weber Shandwick to lead revamped global agency roster

    IBM has appointed Weber Shandwick as it global anchor agency following a competitive review. The agency will support the tech giant across its business sectors worldwide, including the IBM Watson Content Hub, its newsroom stakeholder engagement, major events, forums and metrics. EVP Renee Austin, based in Weber's New York office, will lead on the account, drawing support from the agency's account teams around the world. IBM has also appointed Spectrum Science to work on Watson Health and thought leadership; Civic Entertainment Group to work on citizenship and influencer initiatives; and SKDKnickerbocker to handles its narrative, strategy development and IBM citizenship. KETCHUM and TEXT100 are the incumbents.
