    GM to slash jobs and close eight plants

    GENERAL MOTORS has announced it will close three plants outside North America by the end of next year. One factory in South Korea will be shut down along with plants in two other unspecified locations. It plans to cut production so it can reinvest in electric and autonomous vehicles.
