    Tesco launches 100th-anniversary campaign as Christmas results loom

    TESCO is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a print campaign appearing in THE SUN, THE DAILY MIRROR, THE DAILY MAIL and THE DAILY EXPRESS. The double-page and front page strip ads reveal its promotional price cuts which take effect throughout the month. BARTLE BOGLE HEGARTY designed the campaign while MEDIACOM brokered media.

    Trinity Mirror £200m Express takeover slowed by competition enquiry

    TRINITY MIRROR's takeover of the Express and Star newspapers is being investigated by the culture secretary Matt Hancock and the Competition and Markets Authority amid concerns that the buyout will reduce media plurality and 'substantially lessen competition' in national newspaper and advertising sales. The culture secretary will explore whether the merger would be detrimental to public interest and could invite Ofcom to become involved. The CMA will make a decision on the case by 7 June. Trinity Mirror has defended its plans, stating that the Express titles will remain editorially independent.
