    Alpecin Shampoo ad gets ASA in a lather over caffeine claims

    ALPECIN SHAMPOO has been investigated and ruled against by the ASA for claiming the caffeine content of its products could reduce hair loss in a campaign. A professional trichologist - a scientist who studies hair - made a complaint about the ad, saying the brand could not back up its claims with proof. Alpecin argued that the ad only implied cosmetic benefits. The ASA ordered the brand not to state or imply that its product could reduce hair loss if it is unable to provide evidence first.
