THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT has partnered with Road Safety Scotland, part of Transport Scotland, to launch a social marketing campaign to highlight how parents’ driving can have an influence on how their children will drive in the future. The ‘Kids in the Car’ campaign is centred on the idea that parents are giving their children a lesson, which could impact their safety, each time they get behind the wheel. TV, cinema, radio, online, PR and social media activity, as well as a marketing roadshow, will support the campaign. ASDA, BAUER MEDIA, Education Scotland, ARNOLD CLARK and VISITSCOTLAND will support the campaign.

ARNOLD CLARK AUTOMOBILES has reported that pre-tax profits for 2010 dropped by £23.4m, nearly a third, to £50.5m, although turnover increased 6.1% to £2.27bn. The company said the pre-tax drop was not unexpected and attributed it to the end of the car scrappage scheme, winter weather conditions and the struggling economy. Like-for-like sales rose 2.6%.
