    American Express credit card ad banned following cashback 'exaggeration'

    AMERICAN EXPRESS has had an ad banned by the ASA for exaggerating the claim that consumers can receive 5% cashback on all purchases. The 30-second 'Everything Has an Upside' ad showed scenarios which result in unexpected spending, such as a plumbing leak. Fine print on-screen stated that the cashback was only applied to customers' first three months and only up to a maximum of £100.
