    Waterstones buys Foyles to defend bookshops against Amazon

    WATERSTONES has joined the likes of SAINSBURY'S and ASDA in taking on a major competitor by merging with another retailer. Earlier this month it acquired fellow high street bookshop Foyles in a bid to combat the rise of online retailer AMAZON.

    Amazon rebrands ad services divisions as Amazon Advertising

    AMAZON has brought together Amazon Media Group, Amazon Marketing Services and the Amazon Ad Platform under a single banner, Amazon Advertising. The individual groups will continue to oversee the same duties, namely automated ad buying for the marketing services division; customised ad campaigns for the media group; and the ad platform providing publishers with an advertising marketplace. The move aims to simplify its offering and cut through jargon and acronyms.
