    ALLIED IRISH could cut as many as as 2,000 jobs, a staggering 20% of its Irish employees, as the bank announced its biggest ever loss. It is to wait until it receives EU approval for a major restructuring plan before detailing the losses. Last month Bank of Ireland said it was cutting 750 jobs through a voluntary redundancy scheme, and more than 1,000 have left Ulster Bank.
