    ETIHAD AIRWAYS has appointed STARCOM MEDIAVEST GROUP as its global media planning and buying account, after a pitch against incumbent account holders; MEDIACOM, OMD, MINDSHARE and Dentsu Aegis Network. The appointment covers partner airlines ALITALIA, AIR BERLIN and Jet Airways and sees Starcom tasked with delivering scaled benefits through the alignment of media spend across its key markets. The agency will centrally coordinate the account from its EMEA head office in London, will also be tasked with providing centralised and strategic advice and will ensure that each brand remains unique and has global exposure. DIGITASLBI and M&C SAATCHI, EAP’s digital media strategists and creative agency respectively, are unaffected by the review.

    ALITALIA has rebranded itself after an investment from ETIHAD, to position itself as a 'leader in innovative and sophisticated flying.’ Landor was given the brief which included creating a new ‘young and seductive’ look, including new livery. The planes have more primary colour tones used on the logo and stripes have been added. Inside the planes, new furnishings have been added and new menu cards and reading material. The rebrand will cover airport check-ins, lounges, signage as well as digital, print, outdoor and website advertising.
