    ActionAid's celebrity cast highlights sexual violence against young women

    ACTIONAID has launched a short film to help raise awareness for women and children living in poverty who are subject to sexual exploitation. The charity has enlisted the help of British actresses, Gemma Chan, Andrea Riseborough, Jaime Winstone, Jane Horrocks and Laura Carmichael to voice the saddening stories of four survivors of sexual violence from Zanzibar and Bangladesh. The film the takes a brighter turn as it is revealed how the girls’ lives were turned around with the help of ActionAid. ‘Safe From Harm’ was created by the charity’s in-house PR team with the hope to encourage viewers to sponsor a girl and keep her protected from harm.

    ActionAid UK "#BrutalCut" by Weber Shandwick

    ACTIONAID has launched a campaign by Weber Shandwick entitled ‘Brutal Cuts’ to raise awareness of female genital mutilation. The campaign abruptly cuts messages from young Kenyan girls who face FGM into Instagram videos, celebrity vlogs, cinema trailers and digital outdoor screens. The jarring campaign is being supported by celebrities such as popstar Alesha Dixon and actor Zawe Ashton.
